Are you a dental professional looking to give back? Help us prepare the next generation of dentists.
We are developing a seminar to help incoming dental students understand the personal, emotional, and professional demands of becoming a dentist—not only the academic and technical ones.
Why we need YOU: Dental school asks more of students than they expect.
Incoming students soon discover that dental education demands far more than mastery of science and technical skill. They must learn to care for people through procedures that can be invasive, uncomfortable, and frightening, while also managing their own uncertainty, stress, and self-doubt.Many students are also beginning life in a new city, separated from familiar support systems, surrounded by ambitious peers, and immersed in a culture of continual evaluation.
Exams, clinical requirements, faculty feedback, and self-comparison create pressures that are difficult to anticipate before dental school begins.Students need more than orientation and clinical instruction. They need a framework for understanding what they are experiencing as they undergo the personal and professional formation required to become dentists.

Discussion Leaders
what a discussion leader would do:

Facilitate a guided conversation with a small group of students.

Help create a respectful setting in which students can speak candidly.

Encourage participation without forcing anyone to disclose more than they wish.

Share relevant professional perspective without turning the session into a lecture or a collection of “war stories.”

Help students connect the seminar’s ideas to the realities of caring for patients and becoming a dentist.
You will be provided with a guide. Previous facilitation experience is welcome but not required
